Utah Women's Basketball Defeated at Utah State

LOGAN, Utah - Junior guard Cheyenne Wilson connected on five 3-pointers for a career-high 15 points, but the University of Utah women's basketball team could not avoid a 77-61 loss at Utah State on Tuesday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Led by 15 points from Wilson, Utah (1-2) had three players in double-figures in points and 19 of the Utes' 23 field goals in the game were assisted.
Wilson went 5-for-9 from the 3-point line for her team-high 15 points and also grabbed three rebounds.
Senior forward Michelle Plouffe registered her second consecutive double-double as she had 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds to go with three assists.
Freshman forward Emily Potter turned in her second double-figure point performance in three games this season as she went 5-for-11 from the floor for a total of 12 points and six rebounds.
Sophomore guard Danielle Rodriguez dished out a career-high nine assists to go with a season-high two blocks, while coming up with two rebounds.
Senior guard Ciera Dunbar tied her career high with six assists to go along with five points. Freshman guard Malia Nawahine had five points and five rebounds, while redshirt freshman forward Nakia Arquette scored a career-high four points.
The Utes scored seven of the first nine points of the game and led by as many as seven (18-11). The Aggies were able to come back and tie the game for the second time at 25-25 as Wilson's third 3-pointer of the game gave the Utes a 28-25 edge. Utah then worked its lead to as many as seven (36-29) before taking a 37-32 lead into halftime. The Utes knocked down 48.3% (14-of-30) from the field and shot 45.5% (5-of-11) as team in the first 20 minutes, while holding the Aggies to 35.9% (14-of-39) and 22.2% (2-of-9) from long range. Wilson connected on four 3-point attempts for a team-high 12 points, while Plouffe added nine points and eight rebounds.
Wilson hit her first 3-point attempt of the second half but the Aggies went on a 12-4 spurt to grab their first lead of the game at 48-46. It didn't last long as Utah regained a 49-48 lead after a Rodriguez 3-pointer, but USU regained its lead at 50-49 and never looked back on the way to a 77-61 win.
Utah State (3-0) was led by a game-high 37 points from Jennifer Schlott.
