Utes to Compete in Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women's basketball team is set to participate in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship tournament Nov. 23-25 at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts and Entertainment Center in Nassau, Bahamas, where the Utes will take on Iowa Nov. 23 at 11:30 a.m. (MT) and Miami on Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. (MT).
"We are really looking forward to going back to the Baha Mar Tournament this upcoming season," Head Coach Gavin Petersen said. "We had a tremendous time there back in 2022, both on and off the court. This is one of the best tournaments I've had the privilege to participate in and they do a tremendous job of allowing our players some time to enjoy the amenities at the Hyatt Baha Mar. We get to challenge ourselves early in the season against some great programs and we look forward to competing against them in the tournament."
The event features a three-game schedule slated for both Nov. 23 and Nov. 25 with each of the six teams, Michigan, Iowa, Toledo, Miami and Utah, playing two games during their stay in the Bahamas. Streaming details for the event will be announced later.
Utah has a 4-1 all-time record with Iowa. The last time the two teams matched up was in 2001 where Utah picked up a 78-69 win in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. This will be the first meeting between Miami and the Utes. Utah will enter the 2025-26 season coming off its fifth consecutive postseason appearance. The Utes are welcoming nine newcomers to the squad this year with five new transfers and four new freshmen. Utah returns four from last year's team in Chyra Evans, Evelina Otto, Kamryn Mafua and Ella Todd.

Baha Mar annually plays host to one of the largest regular-season events in the sport of college basketball. Each November around the Thanksgiving holiday, 16 or more NCAA Division I men's and women's teams visit the stunning resort to compete in three basketball tournaments.
Each August, the resort also holds the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League, offering NCAA teams exhibition games against international competition as part of a foreign tour. The resort welcomed an event-record six teams to Baha Mar last month, including Arkansas, Cincinnati, Louisville, Texas A&M, South Carolina and Valparaiso.
