SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah golf team heads to the 3rd annual Mark Simpson Invitational, Sept. 24-25. The tournament will be played on the 7,741-yard, par-72 Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo.
Format
The 54-hole tournament will begin Monday with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start. Thirty-six of the 54 holes will be played on Monday. The final 18 holes will be completed Tuesday in a staggered shotgun format beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The Field
The tournament will be hosted by The University of Colorado. The Buffaloes won the 2011 Simpson invite, with a score of 840. Utah will be one of 14 teams, including fellow Pac-12 member, Oregon State.
Last Time at the Mark Simpson Invitational
The Utes finished 14th at the 2011 Invitational with a team score of 903 (302-297-304). Daniel Engle led the Utes with a score of 227 (75-72-80), tying for 60th. Myles Sullivan (75-77-76) and Joe Webber (78-77-73) both tied for 62nd with a score of 228. Brandon Kida followed with a score of 229 (81-73-75), which tied him for 69th. Ben Bankhead rounded out the Utes' tournament in 79th place, receiving a score of 234 (74-75-85).
