SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's golf team prepares for the Barona Collegiate Cup in Lakeside, Calif., on Thursday and Friday at the par-72, 7,088 yard Barona Creek Golf Club, Thursday and Friday.
Format
The 54-hole tournament will take place Thursday and Friday. Teams of six individuals will play 36 holes on Thursday beginning with a 7:30 a.m. PT shotgun start, followed by the final 18 holes on Friday beginning at 7 a.m. PT.
The Field
Sixteen teams will compete in the tournament, including 12th-ranked San Diego State, Arizona, Central Connecticut, No. 10 Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Illinois, 25th-ranked Kent State, Loyola Marymount, Texas, Northwestern, Pacific, Pepperdine, Saint Mary's, TCU, 11th-ranked USC and Utah.
Last Time Out
The Utes completed the Morris Williams Intercollegiate last weekend in Austin, Texas. The team tallied a mark of 948 (305-320-323) to place 12th, while sophomore Daniel Engle led the way for the Utes in the individual standings, tying for 59th with a final score of 232 (75-79-78).
Last Time at the Barona Collegiate Cup
Utah competed in the tournament in 2011, posting a final score of 1152 (368-383-401) to place 14th. Ben Bankhead led the Utes in individual standings, tying for 32nd with a mark of 225 (72-77-76).
