SEATTLE, Wash.- The University of Utah women's track and field team finished the first day of the Husky Invitational with two great performances. Freshman Susannah Hurst led the charge in the five-kilometer race, while Klaudia Rokossa finished second in her respective flight of the pole vault.
"We got off to a great start today," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "Susannah had a great race as our freshmen continue stepping up big for us this year. Overall I was pleased and we are looking forward to a good day tomorrow."
In her first collegiate five-kilometer race, Hurst clocked a time of 16:52. Hurst's time was first in her heat and 31st over. Her performance ranks second all-time in school history.
On the pole vault, Rokossa tied her lifetime-best performance clearing the mark of 12-10.25. Rokossa finished second in her flight, with more athletes set to compete tomorrow.
