DU Invitational Alpine Results ![]()
After the Alpine portion of the DU Invitational, the Utes are in first place with 456 points. Utah has a 27-point advantage over second-place Colorado after totaling a meet-high 126 points in the women's slalom, while the Ute men were fifth on the day with 90 points.
"The leadership demonstrated by the women's alpine team continues to be an outstanding motivating force for the entire team," Utah Director of Skiing Kevin Sweeney said. "It is also truly impressive the points the entire alpine team has put up in both the CU and DU Invites. I congratulate all of them as well as coaches Jaka [Korencan], Will [McDonald], and Athletic Trainer Mark Moffatt for a superb effort over the 10 days at the Colorado events. It is not an easy feat to score with such potency and consistency on the home venues of our rivals CU and DU. The motivation this instills on the Nordic team is incredibly valuable."
"We couldn't be more happy and excited with how the team performed at the DU Invitational," Korencan said. "I'm very pleased with the team's consistency and their focus at the end of a long two-week trip in Colorado. The women's team proved once more that they are just dominating the slalom circuit."
Bordeau won her second consecutive slalom race after posting the fastest times of the day in both the first and second runs. She has finished in the top five of each of her first five races as a Ute.
Senior Tii-Maria Romar joined Bordeau in the top five with a fourth-place effort. She posted the second-fastest first-run time to start the day, finishing only .48 seconds behind Bordeau.
Junior Anna Kocken was the third Ute in the top 10 as she took seventh place for her fourth top-eight finish of the year. She has finished 10th or better 12 times over her career. Sophomore Jaime Dupratt followed in 26th.
"Congratulations to Julie for a flawless performance again and winning her second slalom in a row," Korencan said. "Both, Tii-Maria and Anna performed on high level as well, despite some sickness and soreness."
In the men's race, Utah had competitors among the top 10 as senior Torjus Krogdahl led the Utes in the men's slalom race with an eighth-place finish. He has placed 10th or better three times over the first two weeks of this season and 15 times over his career.
"On the men's side, we just never got in a rhythm today," Korencan said. "It was just not our day, however, our men still finished strong in the second run and helped us stay ahead as a team."
Junior Ryan Wilson was the second Ute among the top 10 in the men's race as he used the second-fastest second-run time of the entire meet to climb up to 10th in the individual standings. Wilson has placed 10th or higher in all five races to start this season and 14 times during his career at Utah. Nick Cohee turned in a 16th-place effort, while Tim Hribar rounded out Utah's day in 32nd.
"The athletes are now ready to go home, get a well-deserved rest, go back to school, and start practicing again by the end of this week," Korencan said.
The Nordic portion of the Denver Invitational begins with the 5/10k Classical races Friday at the Devil's Thumb Ranch in Granby, Colo.
