SALT LAKE CITY – Head alpine coach
JJ Johnson on Friday announced that the Utah Ski Team has added Finnigan Donley to its alpine squad.
Donley, who is returning from a long-term injury, was the U18 downhill junior world champion in 2023 as well as the U21 national champion in super G. Before joining the U.S. Ski Team, Donley was a member of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation program as well as the Alyeska Ski Club.
The native of Anchorage, Alaska, was lauded as the U.S. Ski Team's Rookie of the Year in 2023. During the 2022 and '23 seasons, he skied to seven podiums in FIS races with four in giant slalom, two in slalom and one in super G.
He qualified for the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in 2023, where Donley placed 29
th in downhill and 13
th in super G. Donley has also made 16 starts on the Nor-Am Cup circuit since his debut in 2022. While in Nor-Am competition, he placed 12
th in a December 2022 super G race at Copper Mountain, before adding a 14
th-place giant slalom result later that season in Quebec.
