Mergaert Earns Second-Team All-American Honors

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah sophomore Amanda Mergaert was named to the All-American Second Team for the first time in her career, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today.
In her first career appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance last Thursday, Mergaert finished her 1,500m race with a time of 4:19.96, which was 1.4 seconds shy of qualifying for the final round.
The sophomore from Shelby Township, Mich., entered the national meet with the top-qualifying time from either regional in the event, 4:16.57.
Mergaert's performance was also a `B' provisional time for the U.S Championships, which will be held June 23 in Eugene, Ore.
