TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Utah men's golf team remains in ninth place at the 2011 Mountain West Conference Championships at the OMNI Tucson National Resort. The Utes put up a second round score of 291 after Thursday's mark of 297 for a total of 588.
Senior Derek Adams posted a stellar second round of 69, improving to tied for 12th place from 22nd. He currently leads the Utes with an even-with-par mark of 143 (73-69).
Freshman Ben Bankhead also improved his standings, finishing the day with a two-round total of 146 (74-72), improving to tied for 25th from tied for 30th. Senior Mike Branca advanced to tied for 30th from tied for 38th after posting a second-round score 72 for a total of 148 (76-72).
Senior Jeff Kitches was next to finish on the Ute roster, tying for 40 th with a two-round total of 152 (74-78). Fellow senior Chase Hite tied for 44th, swinging a 163 (81-82).
The Utes return to action Saturday for the final day of the 2011 MWC Championships on the par-71, 7,144-yard Catalina Course . Live stats of the tournament are available at www.GolfStat.com.
