FORT WORTH, Texas- The 71st-ranked University of Utah women's tennis team (7-8, 1-0 MWC) blanked New Mexico (7-8, 0-1 MWC) in its first Mountain West Conference match of the season. The Utes swept both singles and doubles for the 7-0 victory over the Lobos. Freshman Sarah Pham earned the match-clinching point for Utah by defeating Laura Richardson 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 4 singles spot.

"New Mexico fought hard today," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "They gave us a good test to help us get ready for tomorrow."

In doubles play, the duo of junior Anastasia Putilina and sophomore Paige Miles blanked Ashley Bonner and Anya Villanueva 8-0, at the No. 1 spot. Senior Evgenia Kryuchkova and redshirt sophomore Lexi Provancha defeated Michalea Bezdickova and Nikolina Grbac at the No. 2 position, 8-6, securing the doubles point for the Utes.

Freshmen Sarah Pham and Lucia Kovarcikova topped Kristin Eggleston and Laura Richardson 8-5, at the No. 3 spot to complete Utah's doubles sweep.

In singles play, Miles downed Michaela Oldani 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 5 position, while Kovarcikova defeated Grbac at the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-3, giving the Utes a 3-0 lead over the Lobos.

Pham then clinched the match at 4-0 from the No. 4 position.

Kryuchkova, ranked No. 108, topped Villanueva 3-6, 6-4, 10-5, at the No. 2 spot, while Provancha bested Eggleston 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 6 position, putting Utah up 6-0.

82nd-ranked Putilina, the MWC women's tennis player of the week, defeated Bezdikova at the No. 1 spot, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5, making the final score 7-0 in favor of the Utes.

Utah takes on 65th-ranked TCU (5-6, 0-0 MWC)* Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m. CT at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

*Record does not include Friday's match between TCU and BYU.
