FORT WORTH, Texas- The 71st-ranked University of Utah women's tennis team (8-8, 2-0 MWC) upset 65th-ranked TCU (6-7, 1-1 MWC) Saturday, in Fort Worth, Texas. After sweeping doubles, the Utes went 4-2 in singles for the 5-2 victory over the Horned Frogs. Senior Evgenia Kryuchkova, ranked No. 108, earned the match-clinching point with her 6-2, 7-6, defeat of Federica Denti at the No. 2 singles position.

In doubles play, the team of Kryuchkova and redshirt sophomore Lexi Provancha downed Gaby Mastromarino and Olivia Smith 8-3 at the No. 2 spot. Junior Anastasia Putilina and sophomore Paige Miles defeated Denti and Katariina Tuohimaa at the No. 1 position, 8-3, securing the doubles point for Utah.

The freshmen duo of Sarah Pham and Lucia Kovarcikova topped Maria Babanova and Idunn Hertzberg 8-4, at the No. 3 spot, completing the Utes' doubles sweep.

In singles play, Miles bested Hertzberg 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 5 position, putting the Utes up 2-0 over the Horned Frogs.

Kovarcikova fell to Mastromarino at the No. 3 spot 6-3, 6-4, giving TCU its first point.Pham downed Smith 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 4 position, making the score 3-1 in favor of Utah.

Kryuchkova then clinched the match at 4-1 from the No. 2 spot.

Putilina, ranked No. 82, dropped a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, decision to Tuohimaa at the No. 1 position, giving the Horned Frogs their second point.Provancha bested Shalini Sahoo at the No. 6 spot 2-6, 7-6, 6-2, making the final score 5-2 in favor of the Utes.

Utah returns home to host a trio of Mountain West Conference opponents April 8-10 at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The Utes face Air Force Friday, followed by Colorado State Saturday and 68th-ranked Wyoming Sunday.
