TUSCON, Ariz.- The University of Utah men's golf team completed the first round of play today at the Arizona Intercollegiate in 13th. After battling bouts of hail and strong winds, Utah turned in a score of 302.
Senior Chase Hite and freshman Ben Bankhead led the Utes, both tied for 30th with a score of 74. Not far behind was senior Derek Adams with a four-over-par mark of 75, tying him for 38th. Posting a score of 79, senior Mike Branca finished the day tied for 71 st, while fellow senior Jeff Kitches tied for 80th with a mark of 82.
Weather conditions affected much of play today and many teams were unable to finish due to darkness at 5:45 p.m. MT. The Utes will return to action at the intercollegiate at 8 a.m. Tomorrow at the Arizona National Golf Club.
