TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Utah women's track and field team wrapped up competition on Saturday at the Willie Williams Classic. Sophomore Langley Iverson won the high jump and Amanda Mergaert won the 800m run.
Iverson had a good showing in her opening meet with a 5-7 (1.70m) clearance to win the event outright.
In the pole vault, freshman Theresa Waybright earned second place after clearing 11-11.25 (3.64m).
On the track, Mergaert and junior Alyssa Abbott took control in the 800m run. Mergaert edged ahead in the final leg of the race to finish first overall with a new personal best of 2:10.28. Abbott missed her personal best time by one second, finishing second overall with a time of 2:10.30.
The 4x400m relay, comprised of Lauryn McKay, Chelsey Kaplar, Lucy Yates and Alyssa Johnson, finished fourth overall on Saturday with a combined time of 3:47.24.
