SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah men's golf team is slated to participate in the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State at the 7,040-yard par-72 New Mexico State Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M. Monday's play will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. for 54-holes. The last 18-holes of the tournament will be played on Tuesday, also beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
The Field: The Utes will be competing against Air Force, Boise State, Idaho, Illinois State, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Texas State, UNLV, UTEP, Washington State, Weber State, Western New Mexico, and Wichita State.
Last Time: During the 2008 season, the Utes made an appearance at the invitational, posting a score of 866, which tied for 14th. Then-sophomore Derek Adams tied for 23rd place with a score of 217 at four-over-par. Fellow sophomore Jeff Kitches shot a 15-over-par score of 228.
Week In Review: The Utes wrapped up their home tournament, the Purple and Red Invitational, tied for 10th. Kitches finished in the top 20, posting a mark of 216 to tie for 15th-place. Derek Adams finished with a score of 216 to tie for 31st.
The Utes will break for the winter and begin their spring season at the Arizona Intercollegiate, Jan. 31-Feb. 1, 2011, in Tucson, Ariz.
