SALT LAKE CITY- Former University of Utah men's golf player during the 2004-08 seasons and assistant coach for the 2008-09 season, Chris Gresh completed the first round of the Utah Championship, a PGA Nationwide Tour Event held at the par-71, 7,104 yard Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy, Utah.
Gresh finished the first round with a score of 74, at three-over-par, tied in 144th place.
On Monday, Sept. 7, Gresh shot a score of 66 during the qualifying round at the Valley View golf course in Layton, Utah.
As a freshman Gresh had a 17th place finish at the Mountain West Conference Championships. During the 2005-06 season, he played 35 rounds in 12 tournaments, followed by a low round of 66 at the District 7 Shootout during the 2006-07 season along with four top-25 finishes.
During his senior season, Gresh was Utah's second-highest finisher in five meets. He tied for 18th place at the 2008 MWC Championships at five-over-par, 218.
The PGA Nationwide Tour Event will continue tomorrow with the second round and finish on Saturday, Sept. 12 with the final round.
