BETHEL, Maine - Senior Annalies Cook earned the first All-America honor of her career with a ninth-place finish in the 15-km freestyle on the final day of the NCAA Skiing Championships on Saturday, March 14, as the Utes closed out the championships in sixth-place.
Cook crossed the line in 39:18.3. The national biathlon team member had qualified for NCAA's each of her three years at Utah.
Although Cook at the best finish of the day, the men's Nordic team was the most consistent. Even Sletten placed 13th in the 20-km free with a time of 45:09.5 while Didrik Smith crossed the line 16th in 45:23.4. Ben Fick finished in 22nd (45:54.1).
"It was exciting to see Annalies get All-America honors and end her career on a high note," Director of Skiing Eli Brown said. "Even and Didrik were in the lead pack the whole way and that was a good result for each of them.
"I am very proud of our team and all the hard work they put in. We did our best - you have to have some good luck to win this thing. It's so competitive. Hopefully our turn to have good luck is coming up. We are going to go out and get back at it."
Also for the women, Sara Schweiger was 25th (40:49.6) and Zoe Roy finished 31st (41.07.7).
Denver won its second consecutive title with 659 points, followed by Colorado (602.5), New Mexico (602), Alaska-Anchorage (584) and Vermont (573). Utah was just behind Vermont with 568 points.
