SALT LAKE CITY- The No. 67 University of Utah men's tennis team (4-2) remains undefeated on their home courts after defeating Idaho State (0-3), 7-0, Wednesday at the Eccles Tennis Center.

"It was good to get a win under our belt," said assistant coach Roeland Brateanu. "We changed the lineup and saw some fire from the guys. We are looking forward to Fridays matchup against Northern Arizona."

The Utes changed the lineup against the Bengals. In No. 1 doubles spot the Utes changed it up by putting Timmy Allin with John Taylor, instead of Wes Hancock, which led to a, 8-1, win over Javier Royo and Ross DeChant.

In the No. 3 position Jason Smits and Othman Zerouali-Ouariti swept Dan Buckingham and David Kutchins, 8-0, clinching the doubles point for Utah. In the No. 2 spot, Stephen Jacobs and Benito Suriano continued the Utes doubles domination by topping Danel Barrencecha and Alex Buceta, 8-2.

Utah's sweep continued when Smits playing at the No. 6 position defeated Andres Mancero when he retired after the first set, 6-0. The next to finish was Jacobs who defeated Alex Buceta in the No. 3 position, 6-1, 6-0, putting Utah up 3-0.

In his first appearance in the dual match season, freshman Corbin Bensen defeated Buchingham in the No. 5 position, 6-1, 6-1, which clinched the match for the Utes.

Finishing out singles play was Ouariti in the No. 1 spot topping Royo, 6-1, 6-2. In the No. 2 position Taylor defeated Barrencecha, 6-2, 6-4. Allin closed out the match in the No. 4 spot with a, 6-3, 6-4, win over DeChant, making it the fifth year in a row that the Utes have swept the Bengals, 7-0.

Up next, Utah will host Northern Arizona at the Eccles Tennis Center Friday, Feb. 13 at 5pm.
