Dryland Training Highlights on YouTube
The Utah ski team takes time away from Salt Lake City this weekend to train on snow for the first time this season. Director of Skiing Eli Brown shares the following update.
The ski team leaves this weekend for a crucial on-snow camp. Since late August the team has been working hard in dryland training in preparation for this moment. Final strength tests have been completed. Rollerski and rollerblade intervals are done. Bikes put away, and running shoes kicked in the corner. In a sport that you can only do with snow, the off-season is a tough time...a lot of work to be done while the longing for snow festers. The team is busy organizing homework, tuning skis, and packing for what looks to be a great week.
The alpine squad leaves for a week in Colorado where they will train their first days on snow in Vail. The mountain has been open for over a week and conditions are perfect for racing. The team will be able to free ski as well as train specific slalom and giant slalom progressions. Some will stay a few days after to compete in the first NorAms of the year to see where they stack up.
The nordic squad leaves for a week in West Yellowstone, Montana, where the trails in town are perfectly groomed and waiting. The team will also start off the season with the first competitions and is curious to see where they stack up to the best nordic skiers from around the country.
Stay tuned for more on fall camp. We promise to post pics on our blog and short stories about our first strides and turns of the winter!
