Utah Head Coach Elaine Elliott
On the passing of NC State head coach Kay Yow:
"It is a grave sad day. Kay Yow was a queen. She was an extremely successful coach. A lot of people don't like success - there is too much competition going on to like a person who is good, but there was not a person in this entire basketball family that did not love Kay Yow. It is an amazing thing, and if we could all aspire to that in coaching and playing competitively in any sport this world would be a better place."
On the game against UNLV:
"There are things that we need to do better, we obviously had a great first half, and then we just lose focus and I think that showed in some of the break downs we had in the second half."
"I thought we did well defensively early, we understood and implemented what we believed we needed to do, and we were not successful in trying to do the same thing in the second half."
Guard Morgan Warburton
On the second half:
"Its just getting too comfortable, we kind of get ahead like that and we think that we can do whatever and we're going to win the game, but you can't do that in this conference."
Forward Kalee Whipple
On the second half:
"This was a good game for us. We learned a lot, especially in the second half when they started picking up their game. It showed defensively what we need to work on. I think our schedule beforehand, in the beginning of the season, when we played a lot of those tough teams is paying off right now. Because we had that experience, I think that helped us."
Forward Katie King
On the first half:"We always try to come out with a little fire at every game no matter who we're playing. I can't really explain why we have that or how it happens but it just does. It is nice to have it at the very start because you get out with a big lead and jump on someone."
UNLV Head Coach Kathy Olivier
"I thought we started off not very energetic and we just turned the ball over too much, and Utah capitalized on our mistakes. We slowed down the second half and got our act together and we were much feistier defensively. I thought our defense generated some of our offense so we gave somewhat of some entertainment for the fans maybe. Utah is a great team; Elaine [Elliott] does great job. They are the team to beat right now in the conference."
