ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The Utah golf team finished the last day of the William H. Tucker Invitational Saturday in the final 18 holes, finishing ninth in the team standings. The Utes came up with a team score of 904, adding a 299 in the final round.
Continuing leadership for Utah was senior Chance Cota (San Diego, Calif), who ended with a final score, 218 (70, 74, 74), at two over par. Cota ended up tied for 13th place in the individual standings. Chase Hite (Tucson, Ariz.) completed the final round matching his teammate Cota with a score of 74 and a final combined score of 228 (79, 75, 74), tied for 52nd-place.
Mike Branca, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, tied for 74th-place after shooting a final 18-hole score of 84. Branca added to the total of 154 from the first two rounds for a final score of 234. Derek Adams (Lake Havasu, Calif.) and Jeff Kitches (Salt Lake City) tied for 77th place with final scores totaling 235.
UNLV won the tournament, finishing in first place with a team score of 852. Tied for first in the individual standings was Eddie Olson of UNLV and Derek Tolan of Colorado with respective final scores of 211.
Up next, the team travels to Palm Desert, Calif., for the University of Wyoming Desert Classic Oct. 4-5.
