PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The University of Utah golf team completed the final round of the Inaugural University of Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Classic Sunday in Palm Springs, Calif. The team finished the tournament in 16th place with a final score of 931.
Chance Cota (San Diego, Calif.) had a final 18-hole score of 71, finishing at 12 over par to tie for 35th. Kaleb Mahanes (Erie, Colo.) ended the tournament tied for 56th with a final combined score of 233 (81, 75, 77).
Matching the 77 final-round score of Mahanes was freshman Joe Webber (Sandy, Utah), who completed the tournament at 19 over par with a score of 235. Chase Hite (Tucson, Ariz.) tied for 81st at 23 over par and a final score of 239 (79, 80, 80).
Finishing the tournament at 24 over par, shooting a score of 240, was sophomore Jeff Kitches (Salt Lake City), who tied for 84th.
Colorado State finished first in the team standings with a final score of 877. The Ram's Daniel Walsh won the individual standings at three under par with a final score of 213.
The University of Utah golf team will continue their season Oct. 27-28 at the NMSU Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M.
