"Our women swam some races that they typically don't," says head coach Greg Winslow. "We did that so that they would expand their comfort zone and challenge themselves and they responded quite well today."
For the men, Utah is now 0-6 overall and 0-4 in MWC competition. Marco Ferraro won the 1000 free by over ten seconds, as he finished in a time of 9:52.59. Ferraro followed that up win a victory in the 500 free swimming a time of 4:45.71. Andrew Brown swam a first-place time in the 200 fly, winning in 1:54.72. George Evans added a victory in the 100 free as he swam a time of 46.75.
Adam Oliver won the 400 IM with his time of 4:13.65. To round out the afternoon the 400 free relay team of Evans, Ferraro, Tanner Folster and Garret Beaman won with a time of 3:04.85.
"The men had a great back half of the meet," adds Winslow. "They fought the whole time and showed that by winning the top four spots in the final event which was the 400 free relay. We just need to be more confident and hopefully can focus on that as we look forward to BYU."
Next up for Utah is in-state rival BYU in Provo, Utah. The meet will be January 31, at 6:00 p.m.
