Palo Alto, Calif. - The University of Utah Cross Country team placed 10th of 28 teams in their first 6k race at the Stanford Invitational this weekend. The Utes were led by freshman Lauren Lewis who placed 21st with a time of 21:42.
Other top performers for the Utes were Alyssa Abbott (29th, 21:55), Lauren Endersen (60, 22.30), Kellie Anderson (65, 22:33), Becky Mackelprang (66, 22:34).
Lauren Lewis and Alyssa Abbott both finished under 22 minutes which were career PR's for both of them.
Chelsea DiGrazia raced in her first race of the season as she finished 16th in the 4k race with a time of 15:05. Kristen Kolstad of Simon Fraser finished first (13:56).
"Chelsea ran a great race and looks strong for her first time out this season," says Kepler. "She provides us with more depth for our upcoming races."
Stanford University won the event with 27 points with a first-place effort by Arianna Lambie who finished first with a time of 19:48. Adams State placed second (78 points), followed by UC Irvine (133), Arizona (160), Guelph (171), Chico State (205)....
"We showed a solid effort today," said head coach Kyle Kepler. "This was a good meet and gave the athletes some good experience."
Kepler ends with, "We had a solid performance with a great group and I'm excited to see them step up another notch."
