SAN DIEGO - University of Utah track and field standout Amanda Feigt rallied on the second day to win the heptathlon title at the Mountain West Conference Championships this afternoon.
In third place, the rally began as Feigt tied her season best in the long jump, 19-8 1/3. Then, she made up a 103-point difference with a 2:16.20 effort in the 800m. Feigt finished with 5,328 points, topping second place's Kristin Olafsdottir of San Diego State by 108 points.
"It was an exciting day for us," said head coach Kyle Kepler. "I'm really proud of Amanda. I couldn't be happier for someone who has done so much for this program. My hat is off to her for not giving up on herself. She got the job done and ran an awesome race to finish the heptathlon."
Feigt finished day one of the competition with 3,086 points, trailing first by 207 points. Emily Pearson of Colorado State was the event leader after the first day.
