Carlon Brown Recommits To Utah

SALT LAKE CITY - Carlon Brown, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound guard from Riverside, Calif., has recommitted to the University of Utah after meeting with new head coach Jim Boylen on Thursday.
ScoutHoops.com listed Brown as the fourth-best wing player in the West. Brown was also named to the all-CIF Southern Section first team in 2007. He was honored as the Riverside County Player of the Year this past season, and made the roster for the 2007 Inland Empire All-Star Team. Brown averaged 17.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in his fourth year as a starter.
"I was very impressed with Coach Boylen's knowledge of the game and his extensive coaching background," said Brown. "I think he'll do a great job at Utah. He's excited to be there, and he got me excited about going there. I just really like what he's done in his career and who he is as a person. UConn, Virginia Tech and Cal all contacted me to see if I was interested in committing to them, but after meeting Coach Boylen I knew I still wanted to go to Utah."
"I'm excited to be going to Utah," Brown continued. "I know that we have some other great players coming in to join the ones that are already there, and we hope to do some damage in the Mountain West Conference and get back to the NCAA Tournament in the coming years."
"Coach was just a wonderful person to meet, and I think he's a very honest man," said Carlon's mother, Toenya Rose. "He made us feel very comfortable after all of the changes that have taken place with the Utah program, and we're excited for Carlon to be going to Utah."
Brown, along with Morgan Grim, who recommitted to the Utes last week, made the "2006-07 Best in the West" team compiled by Frank Burlison of the Long Beach Press Telegram. Utah was the only team in the Mountain West Conference to have two players on the team.
