THIS WEEK: The Utes continue their fall campaign Monday and Tuesday at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno, Nevada. The tournament will be the Utes' third this fall. The lineup this week features Steven Broker, Nick Carter, Chris Gresh, Nicholas Larson and Dustin Pimm.
Utah played well in this tournament a year ago, placing fourth in a field of 18 schools. Dustin Pimm led the Utes at seven-under-par, finishing fourth. Pimm was followed by Chris Gresh who finished at even par, placing 22nd.
THE FIELD: The field will feature 18 teams, including Mountain West Conference schools Air Force, Colorado State, and Wyoming, as well as regional rivals Boise State, Nevada and Southern Utah. Nevada won the 2005 Classic.
LOOKING BACK ON LAST WEEK: Utah finished strong at the Purple and Red Invitational, rebounding from an opening round of 295 to card rounds of 279 and 289 to finish at one-under-par and tied for first place. Utah was led by Dustin Pimm who ended the tournament at seven-under-par, placing second. Chris Gresh also played well for the Utes, ending the tournament at one-over-par, tied for 15th place.
UTE NOTES: Dustin Pimm leads Utah with a stroke average of 71, tying him for second place in the Mountain West Conference in that category ... Utah carded nearly identical opening rounds in its first two tournaments, shooting a 295 and 279 to start the Miranda Invitational, and a 294 and a 278 to begin the Purple and Red Invitational ... Chance Cota will likely redshirt this season due to an aggravated shoulder.
QUOTING COACH MCCRACKEN: "This team has proven that it's good enough to win a college golf tournament, which is an extemely difficult task. The fact that we've already done that after our second tournament is a good sign. The guys are relaxed at practice right now, they're working on the things they need to work on individually to get a little bit better."
