LAYTON, UTAH- Utah Golf completed the first and second rounds of the Purple and Red Invitational today, finishing at -2. Much like last week the Utes overcame a sluggish first round of 295 to fire a 279 in the second round. Utah trails overall leader San Francisco by six strokes heading into tomorrow's final round. "We kind of stumbled again in the morning and came back and played great this afternoon," said Ute coach Randall McCracken. "We'll get a good night's rest and hopefully come out tomorrow with our fires burning."
Defending tournament champion Dustin Pimm led the way for the Utes carding rounds of 72 and 67 to finish the day at -5. Pimm currently sits tied for second place with Taylor Hobin of San Francisco, and trails overall leader Maki Kobayashi of Hartford by one stroke. Chris Gresh also played well for Utah, firing rounds of 73 and 69 to end the day at -2 and tied for ninth place. Steven Broker (+1) and Nicholas Larson (+4) also finished in the top 50 for Utah.
