Reno, Nev. - The University of Utah men's golf team completed the first round of the 2005 Wolf Pack Classic in 11th place. The Utes shot a combined score of 292 (+4) in the first round, but were unable to complete the second round due to darkness. The second round will wrap up this morning, before the teams move on to start the third and final round.
For the Utes, sophomore Dustin Pimm shot a 2-under-par 70 in the first round and currently sits tied for 16th. Senior Steve Newren is three shots back from Pimm after shooting a 1-over-par 70. Newren finished the first round tied for 40th.
Freshman Chancellor Cota shot a 74 (+2) in the first round to finish tied for 51st. Sophomore Chris Gresh finished the first round tied for 61st, after taking one more stroke then Cota to finish 3-over-par (75). Freshman Mike Branca shot an 8-over-par 80 in the first round to finish the day tied for 94th.
