SUNRIVER, Ore. - The University of Utah men's golf team finished the first round of the 2005 MWC Men's Golf Championship tied for sixth place with Wyoming at 12-over par (300).
Steve Newren leads Utah with an even-par 72 in the first round to finish the day tied for seventh place. Freshman Chris Gresh is one stroke (73) behind Newren and currently sits tied for 11th place. Senior Ashdon Woods finished the first round at five-over par (77) to place tied for 28th entering the second day.
Nick Micek and freshman Dustin Pimm both finished one stroke (78) behind Woods to place tied for 34th place on the day.
The MWC Men's Golf Championship continues through Saturday with 18 holes each day.
