Salt Lake City - The University of Utah women's tennis team was downed by No. 40 UNLV yesterday. With the loss, the Utes fell to 13-10 overall and 3-3 in the Mountain West Conference while the Rebels advanced to 5-1 in conference play.
The Utes were swept in the doubles.
At the top spot, Liz Ferris fell to No. 28 Elena Gantcheva (6-3, 6-4) and Emily Kwok to Gyorgi Zsiros (6-4, 6-4) at No. 2. UNLV's Anne Claire Ortiz-Luis breezed past Whitney Eber (6-2, 6-0) at No. 3. At No. 4, Cheyenne Reveche was downed by Sharon Marin (7-6, 6-3). Rebel Cindy Treber cruised to a (6-2, 6-4) win over Allison Hansen at No. 5. Cinthia Saucedo was defeated by Claire Smith (6-3, 6-1) at No. 6.
