THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah Indoor Track and Field team will travel to Provo, this weekend, for the BYU Cougar Invitational. The Brigham Young Cougars will host the event at the Clarence Robison Track.
The Utes are coming off their best performance ever at a Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships meet. Last month, the women's squad nudged out San Diego State to earn a fourth-place finish (57.50 points). Utah will look to carry that success into the outdoor season.
FOLLOW THE MEET:
Complete results for the BYU Cougar Invitational will be posted at ww.BYUTRACK.COM.
QUOTING CO-HEAD COACH Tapio Kuusela:
"Our troops are anxious to finally begin their outdoor season. Unfortunately, we've only had a couple of outdoor workouts. There are a whole bunch of question marks concerning this meet, but I expect to see a few regional qualifying marks."
UTES TO WATCH:
Junior Vanessa Mortensen will lead a strong throwing squad during the outdoor season. The Fredensborg, Denmark native broke the school record in the hammer at the MWC outdoor championships. She also sets the Danish national record while competing for Utah.
Sophomore Amanda Feigt had an outstanding freshman year and a strong indoor season this year. Competing in a variety of events such as the triple jump and the long jump, she was Utah's top scorer at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships. Feigt is currently training to compete in the Heptathlon and should have another strong season.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Next up for the Utes is the Weber State Invitational in Ogden, Utah. Competition for the meet will kick off on Saturday, April 9.
