HONOLULU, Hawaii - The University of Utah men's golf team finished the first round of the John A. Burns Invitational in tied for 14th with the University of Pacific. The Utes finished the day with a score of 293 (+5). MWC rivals UNLV and New Mexico finished at 14-under par to lead all teams.
For the Utes, senior Ashdon Woods shot a two under par score of 70 in the first round to finish tied for 19th. Freshman Dustin Pimm is tied for 27th place after shooting a 71 (-1) in the first round.
Steve Newren finished the day tied for 85th, after finishing at three over par (75). Nick Micek finished the first round in 97th place after shooting a five over par 77 in the first round. Freshman Chris Gresh placed 117th in the first round at 10 over par (82).
The second round will tee off tomorrow at the 72-par Leilehua Golf Course.
