Salt Lake City - The University of Utah women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match to Boise State University tonight at the Eccles Tennis Center.
Boise State took an early 1-0 lead by sweeping the Utes in the doubles.
In singles, Utah picked up wins at three spots. At No. 1, freshman Liz Ferris defeated Megan Biorkman (6-4, 6-4). Freshman Emily Kwok downed Carolina Pongratz (6-3, 6-3) at No. 3 while freshman Jen Wencel dispatched Stacey Housley (6-1, 6-3) at No. 6.
Head Coach Megan Dorny comments on the match: "We lost to Boise State 7-0 last year so we are showing marked improvement this year with a very young team."
Utah plays at home again tomorrow against UTEP at 11:30 a.m.
