BEND, Ore. - Utah sophomore Casey Fowles shot a first round two-under-par on Thursday, leaving him tied for third individually at the 2004 Mountain West Conference Championships. Fowles score of 70 leaves him in third along with three others, six-strokes behind the leader Martin Laird of Colorado State. After one day of competition Utah sits in fourth-place at five-over-par, 293.
Ashdon Woods and Luke Swilor are tied for 12th after each shooting two-over-par, 74. Carl Jensen is one-stroke back of Woods and Swilor at three-over-par, 75, placing him 18th. Rounding out the scoring for the Utes, Garrett Clegg is in 33rd after a seven-over-par, 79.
San Diego State shot an even-par, 288, as the Aztecs lead the tournament after the first round.
Competition resumes on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. (PT), with the second round. The final 18 holes will be played on Saturday.
