Utah Golf Finishes Fourth at Cougar Classic

PROVO, Utah - The Utah men's golf team shot a final round 292, dropping them from first after two rounds to a fourth-place finish at the Cougar Classic on Saturday. Utah finished with a team score of 860 (281-287-281), 15-strokes back of champion, Colorado State. Casey Fowles was the top Ute, he shot a score of two-under-par, 214 (71-70-73). Fowles finished 12th individually.
Garrett Clegg completed the tournament in 17th, shooting one-under-par, 215 (69-74-72). Luke Swilor was the other Ute in the top 20 for the tournament. Swilor finished at even-par, 216 (71-74-71), placing him 20th. Ashdon Woods, who was in sixth after two rounds struggled in the final round shooting a final round 77, after hitting 70 in each of the previous rounds. Woods finished 26th, with his one-over, 217 (70-70-77). Carl Jensen added a score of seven-over, 223 (74-73-76), finishing 48th.
Colorado State won its second consecutive Cougar Classic with a team score of 845. The individual champion was Matthew Kodama of Hawaii at 10-under-par.
Utah will now compete at the Mountain West Conference Championships beginning on Thursday, April 29, in Sunriver, Ore.
