NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The University of Utah women's tennis team was crushed 7-0 by No. 70 Nebraska on a neutral site in Newport Beach, Calif. on Wednesday, March 17.
In doubles play, Utah managed to pick up one win, which was at the No. 3. Sophomore Jenessa Jackson and freshman Whitney Eber held on to (9-8(6)) over Schulz-Gartner and Cremieux. At the No. 2, senior Rachel Alder and sophomore Jessica Watts were crushed (8-0_ by Osterman and Garcia, while senior Sheri Esrock and freshman Cinthia Saucedo dropped to L. Harvey and Ketmayura (8-4) at the No. 1.
The Utes proved to be no match for the Husker s in singles. At the No. 1, Esrock fell to No. 42 Ostermann (6-4, 6-0). Eber went three sets with Shulz-Gartner at the No. 2 and eventually lost (5-7, 6-1, 6-3). Saucedo was defeated (7-6, 6-2) by L. Harvey at the No. 3 and Watts was downed (6-0, 6-4) by Garcia at the No. 4. At the No. 5, Alder dropped (6-0, 6-4) to Cremieux, while Jackson fell (6-1, 6-2) to Harvey.
