SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team was knocked off by No. 6 Stanford 7-0.
In doubles play, the Utes proved to be no match for the Cardinals. Senior Roeland Brateanu teamed up with freshman Miron Mann at the No. 1 spot where they lost to KC Corkery and Sam Warbury (8-2). Freshman Ryan Scott and sophomore Tomasz Gryzb were dropped by James Pade and James Wan at the No. 2 (8-6). Sophomore Nick Coutts and freshman Jason Yap played at the No. 3 and fell to Carter Morris and Phil Sheng (8-2).
Stanford took care of Utah in the singles by posting wins at every spot. At the No. 1, Brateanu was outplayed by Corkery (6-3, 6-1) and Mann was downed by Pade at the No. 2 (6-2, 7-5). At the No. 3, Gryzb fell to Sheng (6-2, 6-2) and Coutts lost to Wan (6-1, 6-3) at the No. 4. Scott was crushed by Morris (6-0, 6-0) at the No. 5 and freshman Dantley Young was defeated by Rasmussen at the No.6 (6-4, 6-3).
The Utes are next in action on Feb. 25 at 1:30 against No. 11 Cal.
