The University of Utah women's tennis team defeated the Utah State Aggies 5-2 at the Eccles Tennis Center.

Eber conquered Smith (6-3, 6-1) at the No. 2 and Saucedo crushed Anderson (6-0, 7-5) at the No. 3. Watts beat Stevens (6-0, 7-6(5)) at the No. 4 and Alder topped Hansen (3-6, 7-5(7)) ath the No. 5. Junior and Ute newcomer Shannon Bullard stepped in for Jackson at the No. 6 and lost to Monson (6-1, 6-1). Jackson left the match due to illness.
Head Coach Megan Dorny comments on the match. "I'm glad we pulled out the win today. I felt like we had some pretty tentative performances on our part. After sweeping the doubles, I would have expected a team to come out an play with a little more confidence."
"We took our No. 5 Jenessa out of the line due to an illness. We moved Alder in the No. 5 position and Shannon Bullard into the No. 6 position. This was really the first competitive match she's played in a long time and I was really proud of her for going in. The others I really felt like did make a tentative performance. I told the girls before we headed out today that I thought we had a chance to win at every single spot. Utah State came out with two wins. Overall, we are always happy to chalk up a win but I expect them to play a little more decisively on Sunday."
