NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The University of Utah men's golf team finished fifth at the Countrywide Intercollegiate with a three-round score of 875 (+11). Utah moved up three spots after finishing eighth in the first round. The second round wasn't completed Monday due to darkness, but was completed Tuesday prior to the final round.
Freshman Dustin Pimm finished tied for second after shooting two-under par in the first round (70), five-under par in the second round (67) and one-over par in the final round to finish with an overall score of 210 (-6).Fellow freshman Chris Gresh was the second top-finisher for Utah finishing tied for 19th with a three-round score of 219 (+3). Gresh shot a 74 (+2) in the first round, after which he improved by one stroke in the following two rounds (73, 72).
Chace Bickmore tied for 37th after shooting seven-over par (223) for the tournament. Bickmore took 77 strokes in the first and third round, but shot a three-under par 69 in the second round. Senior Ashdon Woods finished tied for 55th at 227 (+11). Woods shot a two-over par 74 in the first two rounds, but slipped in the third round finishing with a 79. Nick Carter finished tied for 62nd shooting 14-over par (230). Carter shot a 78 (+6) in the first round, 77 (+5) in the second round and a 75 (+3) in the third round.
Utah will take a break for the winter, before starting the spring season at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Hawaii Feb. 23-25.
