THIS WEEK:

The University of Utah men's golf team will compete in the Wolf Pack Invitational, hosted by the University of Nevada-Reno. The tournament will take place at the Wolf Run Golf Course Oct. 18-19. The first two rounds will be held Monday with the final round on Tuesday.

RON MOORE INTERCOLLEGIATE RECAP:

The University of Utah men's golf team finished ninth at the Ron Moore Invitational. Utah finished three-over par (291) in the third round after finishing seven-over par (295) in the first two rounds to finish with an overall score of 881 (+17).

Ashdon Woods finished three-under par (69) in the final round after shooting a 73 (+1) in the first round and a 74 (+2) in the second round to finish tied for 10th overall. Freshman Daniel Smith took two strokes over par (74) in the first round and then improved in the final two rounds with a one-over par score for both rounds to finish tied for 29th.

Chris Gresh and Dustin Pimm tied for 38th (+6) and 52nd (+9) respectively. Junior Nick Micek finished tied for 47th with a three-round score of 230 (+14).

QUOTING HEAD COACH Randall McCracken:

"I'm pretty optimistic about our tournament in Reno. The guys have been really focused in practice the last couple of weeks and we're getting better everyday. As I predicted, we have a slightly different team traveling this week and right now, these five are playing the best. We have quite a bit of depth on our roster which is unusual for such a small team. It's nice to be able to take different players every week and have confidence in their abilities. I think we'll have a good event in Reno."
