PROVO, Utah - The University of Utah cross country teams finished the Brigham Young University Fall Classic on Sat., Sept. 13. The meet featured athletes from Utah, BYU, Weber State, Utah State, Utah Valley State College, Minnesota and Northwest Nazarene University. The women's team finished fourth with 96 points while the men finished fifth with 156 points.

On the women's side sophomore Elise Greenwood led the team with an impressive fourth-place finish in the 5K run. Jenny Brusch finished 18th followed by Nellie Hammons finished at 22nd, Jennie Haertel at 31st and Season Meservey at 32nd to round off the top five.

"I went out and ran the strategy that coach gave me," states Elise Greenwood. "I felt good the whole way through. The course was great, the way it was sectioned off gave you a chance to get a feel for it."

Jeff Davidson led the men's team with an 19th place-finish in the four mile run, followed by Nick McKay at 33rd, Tim Goldhardt at 49th, JP Rooney at 51st and Cameron Christeson at 75th.

"I did what I was supposed to do, but I didn't do what I wanted to do. I'm still moving up," states Jeff Davidson.

"Our unattached runners did a fantastic job, as did our young athletes," states Head Coach Brian Appell. "This bodes well for next year's team. Elise did a great job. For the work we've done this week, this was a decent effort and another step towards conference."
