RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - The University of Utah men's golf team is in fourth place after two rounds of the USD Invitational. Utah shot a team score of 624 (311-313), 48-over-par. The Utes are seven strokes off the lead heading into the final round of competition on Tuesday.
Leading the way for the Utes is Casey Fowles who shot a 10-over 154 (77-77), leaving him in seventh place. Steve Newren shot a 11-over 155 (83-72), placing ninth. Garrett Clegg and Carl Jensen each shot an 18-over 162, tying them for 39th. Luke Swilor finished with a 20-over 164.
Portland and Rice are tied for the lead with a 41-over 617. CS Northridge is in third with a 43-over 619. The final round will tee off at the Del Mar Country Club on Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m.
