THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah golf team will travel to Northridge, Calif. for the Countrywide Intercollegiate on Monday, Oct. 20-Tuesday, Oct. 21. The lineup for the team this week will include Garrett Clegg, Luke Swilor, Casey Fowles, Nick Micek, and Nick Summers.
THE FIELD:
The Countrywide Intercollegiate will consist of 23 teams, including several California schools, such as host school Cal State Northridge's Red and Black teams. Also there will be Southern Utah, Utah State and Weber State. The first two rounds will be held on Monday, and the final round to be on Tuesday. All rounds will be played at the Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, Calif. The course is a par 72 and plays 6,796 yards.
Last season the Utes won the Countrywide Home Loans Intercollegiate by 18 strokes. Utah finished with a team score of 867 (292-287-288), three-over-par. Casey Fowles led the Utes and finished in first overall with his 208 (70-70-68), eight-under-par performance.
LOOKING BACK AT THE WOLF PACK AND FRESNO-LEXUS:
Utah is coming off two-tournaments in six days. The Utes completed a second-place finish at the Wolf Pack Invitational on Oct. 6-7, in which Garrett Clegg was the individual winner as he shot an 11-under-par, 205. The team completed the tournament one-stroke back as it shot a 17-under, 847.
The Utes finished 14th at the Fresno Lexus Classic on Oct. 10-11 with an 11-over, 875. Utah was again led by Garrett Clegg who added a two-under, 214.
UTE NOTES:
Utah's Garrett Clegg became the first Ute individual this season to win a tournament as he won the Wolf Pack Invitational. The Utes as a team have finished second twice this season, once at the Falcon Invitational and again at the Wolf Pack Invitational.
