SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The University of Utah men's tennis team continued their strong start of the dual play season with a 6-1 victory over the visiting Montana State Bobcats on Saturday at the Eccles Tennis Center. Daniel Lohff once again had a resilient performance, with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Marek Gebicki in the two position. With the win, Utah improved to 2-1 overall on the season.
In other singles action, Tyler Poulson came off victorious in a 6-3, 6-3 win over Tejeshwara Chigateri in the three spot. Tomasz Grzyb, in the six, also controlled his opponent, Jake Barriochoa, in a 6-2, 6-3 win. Roeland Brateanu fell to Federico Ueltschi in a close 6-7, 7-5 loss.
"I am happy to have such a strong start to the season," Utah Head Coach F.D. Robbins said after the matches. "We were shaky in last night's matches (against Utah State). I thought we played better today as a whole, especially in the second sets."
