GOODYEAR, Ariz.- The University of Utah men's golf team finished fourth at the Thunderbird Invitational with a three round score of 870 (six-over par). This marks the first top ten finish of the season for the Utes. CSU-Bakersfield won the tournament by carding a 847 (17-under par).
Freshmen Ashdon Woods led the Utes by finishing in fourth place with a five-under 211. Woods finished the first round four-under par (68), but struggled in the second round with a 77 (five-over par) before finishing strong with a six-under 66 in the final round. Sophomore Luke Swilor joined Woods in the top ten finishing tied for seventh with 214 strokes (two-under par). Swilor struggled in the first round carding a four-over 76 before finishing the final two rounds under-par with a 67 (five-under) and a 71 (one-under) respectively.
Paul Winterowd and Nicholas Summers tied for 40th place with a eight-over 224. Winterowd scored a four-over 76 in the first round before finishing with a two-over 74 in the final two rounds. Summers started strong with a first round 69 (three-under), but faltered in the final two rounds with a 78 (six-over par) and 77 (five-over par) respectively. Nick Micek finished tied for 76th with a 19-over 235.
