THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah outdoor track & field teams will split up for two separate meets. The women's team will travel to San Diego, Calif. for the San Diego State Invitational on Sat., Apr. 13. The men's team will head to Logan, Utah for the Utah State Invitational on Sat. Apr. 13. The Utes are off to a strong start in 2002. They will look to continue their success at both meets.
LAST MEET:
The University of Utah outdoor track & field team finished the second day of competition at the Stanford Invitational on Sat., Mar. 30. Six runners form the men's and women's team broke personal records at the meet.
Nellie Hammons' fifth place (2:12.98) in the 800-meter run, Tara Hall's seventh place (4:35.76) in the 1500-meter run and Elise Greenwood's sixth place (11:12.46) in the steeplechase were personal bests. For the men, Nephi Tyler's second place (3:48.11) in 1500-meter run, Lion Gallegos' 32nd place (30:44) in the 10,000-meter run and B.J. Christensen's ninth place (8:55) in the steeplechase were also personal records.
Ute runners Jennifer Brusch, Colby Frazier, and Brent Moore competed unattached at the meet, each setting personal records.
AFTER THIS:
The Utes will travel to Pocatello, Idaho for the Idaho State Spring Fever Festival. The meet will begin on Apr. 26 and will last until the 27.
