This Week:
The University of Utah outdoor track & field teams will head to Logan, Utah to compete in the Utah State Invitational on Sat., Apr. 20. Field events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and running events will begin at 11 a.m.
Last Meets:
The women's outdoor track & field team placed second (62 points) at the San Diego State Invitational. In addition to SDSU, Utah competed against Southern Utah, Cal State Sacramento and Cal State Dominguez Hill.
Elise Greenwood finished first (10:16.99) in the 3,000-meter run and first (4:42.56) in the 1,500-meter run. Nellie Hammons place third (2:13.89) in the 400-meter dash. April Jackson took second (14.87) in the 100-meter high hurdles and Kristy Slade placed fourth (15.10) in the 100-meter high hurdles. Next, the Utes will travel to Logan, Utah to compete in the Utah State Invitational on Apr. 20. Utah will look to continue their success in Logan.
Runners from the University of Utah men's outdoor track & field team competed at the Azusa Pacific Meet of Champions on Sat., Apr. 13. Ute runners placed first in three events continuing their strong performances in 2002.
Nephi Tyler placed first (3:47.7) in the 1,500-meter run and sixth (1:52.3) in the 800-meter run. Senior Teren Jameson finished first (14:37.5) in the 5,000-meter run. Senior B.J. Christensen took first (8:59.06) in 3,000-meter run. The Utes also had strong performances from Lion Gallegos and Romney Stevens. Gallegos finished seventh (15:10.1) in the 5,000-meter run and Stevens placed ninth (15:18.3) in the 5,000-meter run.
After This:
The University of Utah outdoor track & field teams will back to Provo, Utah for the BYU Clarence Robinson Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin on Fri., May 3 and last until Sat., May 4.
