SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah's women's tennis team notched Idaho State, 5-2. The 6-5 Utes performed well in both singles and doubles. This defeat ended the Utes three game losing streak.
In singles action, junior Sheri Esrock defeated Hayli Scott, 6-3, 6-2. Cassie Kasteler ousted Idaho State's Carol Tolsma, 6-2, 6-0. Ellen Svensson defeated Kristina Arutjunova, 6-2, 6-0 and freshman Allison Hansen etched Melanie Kranz, 4-6, 6-3, (retired).
In doubles action, Utah swept all three matches. The Irini Kotoglou and Svensson duo defeated Irene Kakulia, 8-4. Linn Ronnberg and Esrock ousted Tolsma and Scott, 8-2 and Kasteler and Hansen defeated Arutjunova and Kranz, 8-3.
Next up the Utes will face No. 62 ranked SMU. The SMU match will begin Sunday, Mar. 10 at 11:00 a.m. This match will be held at the Eccles Tennis Center.
