Colorado Springs, Colo. - After the first day of competition in the 2002 Mountain West Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Air Force Academy, the University of Utah women's team finished first place thanks to outstanding performances from Kristy Slade and Erianne Allen in the women's pentathlon. Competition for the men's and women's pentathlon began on Thursday, Feb. 21. Utah had no athletes from the men's team compete in the pentathlon.
After day two of competition on Friday Feb. 22. the women's team dropped to third place with the men's team at sixth place. Top performances for the day included April Jackson's second (8.60) place finish in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries, Elise Greenwood's third (5:24.88) place finish in the one mile run and Brooke LoBue's second (3.84m) place in the pole vault.
