The Utah golf team matched its season best with a seventh place finish at the USD Invitational in San Deigo, Calif. After the first day, two rounds, Utah stood in third place but shot a final round 306 to fall to seventh. They had a 297 in the first round, their second-lowest opening round score for the team this season. Fresno State won the tournament with its score of 864.
Ryan Ellis was the top Ute, placing seventh. Ellis shot 75-70-74 giving him a total of 219. The 219 is the lowest three-round score this season for Ellis. He also set his season best with the 70 he shot in the second round. His seventh place finish is also a season best. Shawn Edwards shot a 225 (71-78-76) to finish 16th. The 16th place is a season best for Edwards. Paul Winterowd finished 34th with his 230 (75-78-77), Luke Swilor was 41st at 233 (76-78-79) and Bruce Summerhays finished 67th with his 242 (79-83-80). Nick Watney of Fresno State won the event with a 16-under par 200 (67-66-67).
